gary

March 03, 2017 Midwest Adventure (Gary, Indiana)

Day 2 of my trip we decided to make an early move into Gary, Indiana. The drive felt really short, I would say it was only 45 to an hour drive. Right when we had arrived in the town I was in shock of how run down the city was. I would say every corner we turned about 50% of the block was filled with abandoned buildings. During this day we decided to check out a lot of schools that were wide open. Now these buildings did not have any type of barricade or security guarding any of these buildings. It was literally insane how these abandoned buildings were just sitting here wide open because it is not something I am used to coming from California.

While walking into one of the schools a cop saw us sneaking into it. The officer literally made eye contact with all of us and just drove us. If something like this were to happen in California, the officer would have not hesitated to cite us. These schools had some nice finds in them. From beautiful decayed auditoriums, to destroyed basketball courts, and even classes with graffiti everywhere.

Other things we had hit this day was a bank, a theater, and a few churches. We actually manage to finish this city up surprisingly faster than I anticipated. Although we decided to wait out the sun so we can have a decent sunset somewhere, we ended the day shooting a beautiful church that was gigantic with a roof missing.
